The kite is an essential piece of equipment for any kiteboarder, whether a beginner, improving or an expert in his field. It’s not always easy to find your way around the wide choice of kitesurfing equipment available for you. Flymaax helps you to choose the right wing!

What type of kitesurfing kite should I choose?

The ram-air kite shines for its handling and stability. It is the ally of experienced riders who are constantly trying to push their limits. Ram-aire kite wing inflates naturally during use and remain reliable even in light winds (less than 8-10 knots). Nevertheless, it is necessary to master the techniques of re-launching in the case of a fall, hence the importance of having a certain amount of experience.
The inflatable kite owes its name to the presence of inner tubes that must be inflated before riding. Don’t panic, the inflation is done with a pump that will save you a lot of time. The bladder kite pleases for its secure side. The handling is much less technical compared to the ram-air kite. This makes re-launching a lot easier as well. If you ride for pleasure without the need for extreme sensations, this is the type of kite for you. It is also the wing of choice in winds above 8-10 knots.

Which size to choose?

Wing sizes refer to the surface area of the wings when deployed. For beginners, it is better to take a wing of fairly large width which is easier to use. You will then be able to reduce the size of your wing as you progress with the kite.
Note that the kites are always chosen according to the kitesurfer’s size. A model of 11 m² is for example recommended for a beginner of 75 kg. Of course, you will also have to take a bar adapted to the kite. At Flymaax, we systematically specify the compatible bars so that you can build up a first-class equipment.
Similarly, we specify the wind speed range for each kite we offer you. Technically, the kite is suitable for winds between 10 and 30 knots but depending on your level, you are not always restricted to this standard.
Our kitesurfing kites adapt to a wide range of uses: initiation sessions, freestyle, race… If necessary, get advice from our technical team who will guide you towards the ideal kite.
